Happy Valentines Day!

Happy Valentine's Day everyone!!

I know I am supposed to be posting something pink, red, and full of hearts, but isn't something a bit different a nice change? This orange-yellow ombre cake was for my cousin/roomie's birthday this past weekend and I think it is also the perfect pretty cake to celebrate a special day with your '+ 1'.  What can get better than a cake covered in roses for Valentine's Day?

After making three pink-themed cakes in the past two weeks or so, I couldn't bring myself to make yet another cake along the same lines.  Plus, variety is the spice of life, is it not? :)

This has been a busy few weeks for cakes!  First I made this cake:

Then this one for a 2nd birthday:

And another one for a birthday this past weekend (post coming soon!):

As you can see, I had to mix it up. I was seeing pink in my sleep!

The icing technique I originally saw on iambaker.net and I instantly fell in love. I have used it once before on my giant cupcake cake, and I knew it would be perfect for this cake.  Instead of making the cake all one colour I decided to try making an ombre cake for some variety. I absolutely love how the colours came out!

The inside of the cake itself is a Devil's Food Cake, with alternating layers of Strawberry Buttercream and Raspberry Buttercream. So there was some pink, red, and white inside for your Valentine!

I hope everyone has an absolutely amazing Valentine's day! I know I sure got spoiled :)

  3. This cake is beyond fabulous. I also love that you chose the color yellow. Yellow = happiness. Someday I may be daring enough to try this :)

  5. By and by the utilization of certain psychoanalytical techniques can be valuable, if not to offer a perusing of the affection, at any rate to attempt a perusing of the hypochondriac floats of the adoration. Toward this path, the subject is still frequently untouchable. galaxy rose forever
